In July, our engineering team traveled to Seoul to install two of our largest revolving SkiMachines. Today, the SNOWFLEX ski center brings the fun of year-round skiing to South Korea, letting skiers of all levels enjoy an authentic slope experience right in the city of Hanam-Si.
A warm welcome in Seoul
The journey to bring the first SkiMachine to Korea was unforgettable. When the container with our SkiMachines arrived our four engineers were there to help unload, assemble, and set up the simulators. The team received a warm welcome from SNOWFLEX team, who were thrilled to see this new technology in action. After installing Korea’s first indoor slopes, one of our engineers, who is a skilled skier, couldn’t resist testing the equipment, showing off his technique on the revolving slope! Later, SNOWFLEX kindly took our team into Seoul to explore the city, show the local culture, and try some of its unique foods. One unforgettable experience was trying sannakji, a freshly cut octopus that still moves on the plate!
Meet director Yang Seong-Cheol: “The Skiing King”
SNOWFLEX is led by Director Yang Seong-Cheol, fondly known as “the Skiing King.” Currently a professor at Seokyeong University, he holds a Level 4 certification with the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) and has served as both demonstrator coach and director for the Korean Ski Instructors Association. With additional experience as a coach for the Winter Paralympic National Team at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Yang brings a wealth of expertise to SNOWFLEX. His vision extends beyond skiing; he has created a welcoming environment where beginners and advanced skiers alike can improve their skills while enjoying a vibrant community space that blends sports, culture, and relaxation.
From cafe to community space
SNOWFLEX began as a cozy café and has since evolved into a lively community space that combines skiing and a café, located in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Visitors can relax with a coffee, connect with friends, enjoy a variety of food and drinks, and watch others try their hand at skiing—all within the inviting atmosphere of a sports center. Offering classes from introductory to advanced levels, the ski school provides lessons for everyone, making SNOWFLEX a place for both learning and connecting with other sports enthusiasts.
